Australian Restaurant Bondi & Bourke Opens in BGC

Two weeks ago I was invited to an exclusive food tasting session at Bondi & Bourke's newest branch in Forbestown BGC. It's a new, fancy Australian restaurant serving straightforward, comfort food exclusively curated by multi-awarded chef and owner, Wade Watson. I seldom go to morning events, but for this I made an exception. I just couldn't wait to try the different dishes prepared by Chef Wade himself! Here are photos from the event...

It might be a little pricey but the serving is big and the food is delicious! Serves 2-4. :)

 Warm Mushroom Salad -- It was so tasty and refreshing. I am picky when it comes to salads and this one just topped my list. :) I loved everything in it! Cherry tomatoes, arugulas, french beans and the sauteed mushrooms. So goood.

My choice of drink-- Bourke Cooler! It's made of pandan, mint & calamansi! OMG, I could drink 1 whole pitcher of this. 

 Grilled Chicken Kebab! Nagkahiyaan pa but I wanted to finish everything. Haha. The yogurt marinated chicken was grilled to perfection and the refreshing salsa made of cucumber, herbs & tomatoes complements the kebab perfectly. The salsa tasted like greek salad. Yummmm.

 Roasted Prime Rib-Eye with Sides -- okay, dito wala nang shy shy, I had 2 slices of steak! Or 3, I think. Hihi. I usually prefer my steak well done, but this was another exception! It is super moist, juicy & cooked just right. The meaty part is easy to chew, and the fatty parts melts like butter. YUMMM. 

 The steak was served with dijon mustard, buttered mashed potato, baked potato & dressed arugula. Perfection. 

Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert

I had to leave agad because I had pullouts so I had to skip dessert which was Sticky Toffee Pudding. I heard it was sensational. Oh well, next time!:) Our table was not able to taste the Canapes or Appetizers but they were a hit as well. The main course were enough to keep us fueled all day. I was so full! They were also constantly serving wine. Now, that's how you do brunch. :)

The 106-seater space is located along the stretch of Forbes Town Road in Manila’s trendy Burgos Circle neighborhood. The secret of Bondi&Bourke’s success begins with multi-awarded Australian chef and owner, Wade Watson. He has cooked around the world, with postings in Canada and Australia, and as Executive Chef to the famed Lan Kwai Fong group in Hong Kong. He was previously the Executive Chef of the Abaca Boutique Resort in Cebu.


 Chef Wade credits the atmosphere, service, and hard work to the restaurant’s success. He said, "We are focused on good food. It’s basically dishes you want to come home to after a day’s work,” he says. “There is no magic to it, really. It’s just simple food in a relaxed atmosphere, and having a team of dedicated, hardworking staff.” 


Apart from a view of the chef working busily in the open kitchen, the dishes come with an added bonus: all servings are in good size portions enough for big groups to share.

Bondi&Bourke boasts a collection of imported meats and seafood, offering choices of U.S., Australian, and Creekstone Prime rib-eye steaks, Australian lamb chops, and snapper fillets accompanied by delicious side dishes. For those who cannot decide on the meat, try the best-selling Mussel and Oyster selections: Spicy Red Thai Curry, Moules Mariniere, Kilpatrick, Mornay, and Fresh-Shucked with mignonette.
