Here's the 2nd installment of my Puerto Princesa, Palawan travel blog! I already shared with you photos and stories from our 1st day in the city, our 2nd day was dedicated to island hopping, visiting Yamang Bukid farm & resto, and then firefly watching at night. The weather was a bit gloomy, but that didn't stop us from having fun! Photos and stories below...
1st Stop: Yamang Bukid Farm
Located in Barangay Bacungan, the farm originally started as a small business in Baguio City 7 years ago and eventually expanded in Palawan. The farm was born from a simple dream of its owners of doing business in food supplements using indigenous organic products that have been proven to work wonders for people’s health and well-being. Drawing inspiration from wonder-plant turmeric containing a host of health benefits, the fledgling company created the “Turmeric 10-in-1 Tea” as its flagship product.
Now, it has grown big with nearly 2,000 employees working together to produce high-quality food supplements with the aid of state-of-the-art food processing technology in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). YBHPI is present in several provinces and all major cities across the country, with its stores ready to serve you.
Yamang Bukid Farm opened a restaurant due to the increase of people visiting the farm. They serve dishes with ingredients fresh from their farm at an affordable price. It's the perfect place to eat a hearty meal while enjoying the fresh breeze & beauty of nature.
The 1.2-hectare land is home to different species of plants, fruits, veggies, animals & insects, They also have a water treatment facility & vermiculture to produce organic fertilizer from their organic wastes. For its sustainable model, Agricultural Training Institute recognized the Yamang Bukid Farm as a model farm tourism destination. The Department of Tourism also recognizes it as an agricultural tourism destination. (source)

2nd Stop: Nagtabon Beach
If you want to just chill at the beach, sunbathe, and swim in the ocean at your own pace & time without having to ride a boat, then this place is perfect for you! Less than an hour away from the city, Nagtabon Beach has a scenic view, white sand beach, and clear blue water. Depending on the season, people also go here to surf or go skimboarding! Entrance fee is P10 and there are cottages for rent for P200.
Super cute & clingy this dog! :)
We were the only ones there! It's not crowded which makes it an ideal destination for those who want to have quality beach time.
3rd Stop: Cowrie Island
First stop on our Honda Bay island hopping tour is Cowrie Island! This island paradise is named after the marine gastropod mollusk called "cowrie." Local and foreign tourists could enjoy the sun, sea and sand while relaxing here as the island have cottages you can eat & rest in, pavillions you for events, kayak rentals, clean toilets & small shops to buy food & drinks from. Entrance fee is P100/adult & P50/children. You can go here directly via boat for P1,000 (6 pax) or as part of the Honda bay island hopping tour which is P2,100 for 6 pax.
Just go to the Sta. Lourdes Port and rent a boat there! Rates are standard.

If you don't want to bring your own food, you can just order from Cowrie! They offer Bento Bilao for P250, Boodle Bilao (min. 6 pax) for P375 and Buffet (min. 60 pax) for P400 per person. Now I'm hungry and craving for saefood. Waaaah!
Lunch buffet with a view!
4th Stop: Starfish Island
If you want to go snorkeling and see lots of starfish, then you will love this island! I personally enjoyed walking on the beach, taking photos near the mangrove, sittin on the fine white sand while looking at the view and just enjoying the fresh sea breeze while chatting with blog friends on one of the benches there. The locals also offered us cooked scallops & abalone! Didn't try it though coz my stomach was acting up but the others said they were delish. Would love to try when I go back!
Abi of DOT looking cute holding a starfish!
Amazed si Chuck sa lobster and crab! Hehe
The giant scallop!
Abalone! Sa k-drama ko lng to nakikita ah hehe
5th Stop: Luli Island
Luli Island got its name because its sandbar appears and disappears (lulubog and lilitaw), depending on the tide. This is part of the Honda Bay Island hopping tour you can do from Puerto Princesa City. It has powdery cream-colored sand and clear emerald waters perfect for swimming and beach bumming. (source)
6th Stop: Iwahig Mangrove & Firefly Watching
After freshening up, our group headed out again for dinner & to do some firefly watching! The drive to Iwahig took 45 minutes. After eating, we boarded small paddle boats for our 30-minute cruise along the Iwahig River! I already did this before but it feels like my first time everytime. It was truly magical and an amazing experience. The park opens at 6pm and closes at 10pm.
Group 2 waiting to board their boat hehe
It's totally pitch black and flash photography is discouraged so you can see the fireflies well. Seeing the fireflies and the starry night sky made me feel things! We even saw bioluminescent phytoplanktons. Denise played nice music (minimum volume) and it made the experience more enjoyable.
The night sky and some fireflies. So magical!
And that's it for Day 2! Will probably post Day 3 & 4 together coz there are less photos hehe. Thanks again Marc & Abi of DOT Mimaropa for arranging this fun trip. :) Thank you all for reading! :)
