How I’m Using Maya to Fund my Concert Goals

I'm entering midlife, and I'm at a stage where my focus and ultimate goals have narrowed down to a few things. Whenever people, or even online clients during interviews, ask me about my goals for the coming years, my answers have become steadfast and simple: to continue working remotely on a flexible schedule (whether it's a data entry job or something else, as long as it meets my asking rate) so I can travel the world, focus more on self-care, and spend more time with my family and friends. Honestly, my goal is just to earn money without being too stressed so I can do things that bring me joy and give my life meaning-- like watching my favorite artists perform live on stage!

Music has always been a part of my self-care routine, and concerts have become my ultimate escape and reward. There's nothing quite like the rush and magical feeling of seeing the artists I love, who have inspired me for so long, perform live on stage while surrounded by fellow fans. But of course, we all know how concert ticket prices, along with other expenses, can add up.

I remember flying to Singapore for Coldplay and to Jakarta, Indonesia for Suga (my BTS bias) and Radwimps. More than the concert tickets, which were honestly very reasonable, it was the travel expenses (and merch) that made the cost balloon. All worth it, though! Best days of my life. 10/10 would do it again, hehe.

Anyway, I didn't have any savings plan for these kinds of things before; I was just winging it. To be fair, I knew I had options but was too lazy to check them out. Now, I'm so happy to share that I've found my "savings partner" to help me reach my goals!

I've been a Maya user for years now. There was even a time when I had no other ATM cards because I lost my wallet in Japan and didn't request new ones when I got home. I just used my Maya card for everything. Whenever I needed to withdraw, I did online bank transfers. At that time bank transfers to Maya were free, so it was incredibly convenient!

Anyway, I discovered that I can also use my Maya app/account to save money while earning daily interest! Why didn’t I do this earlier? For the longest time, my savings were sitting in a different bank account without earning anything. Now, by using Maya Savings, I see an increase daily, making me happy, excited, and more motivated to save! BTS, I’m coming for you in 2025! Hehe.

Here’s how you can save and earn by using MAYA:

MAYA SAVINGS: Simple and straightforward: think of it as your personal fund for all things concert-related. You can easily transfer funds from your wallet to your savings. Save your money, pay bills, and shop with your Maya Wallet, all while enjoying interest rates as high as 15% p.a., boosted interest (aka free money!) credited daily. Yes, daily! 🙂
I also discovered that you can complete challenges (like making Maya QR payments, shopping online, etc.) to earn even more interest!

See example below…

I paid my PLDT bill online and also used Maya QR to pay for a meal! From 3.5% my interest grew to 6% in one day! Wow!

You can also earn P30 for each successful referral to Maya! All you need to do is register for a Maya account using your unique referral code, and you can get a P30 reward when the people you refer spend P20.

PERSONAL GOALS: You can set specific targets using Maya’s Personal Goals feature. This tool allows you to create separate goals for different concert expenses, such as tickets, travel, merch, and spending money. You can easily track your progress for each goal, making the experience more rewarding. Conveniently add some cash each payday and watch your savings grow at 4% p.a., all while maintaining the freedom to access your funds whenever you need them.

TIME DEPOSIT PLUS: If you need an extra boost, you can also utilize Maya’s Time Deposit Plus. By locking away a portion of your funds for a fixed term, you can earn a higher interest rate (up to 6%), which will add up nicely by the time you’re ready to purchase those concert tickets! These rates apply to savings up to P1 million per account, and you can have up to five different TD+ accounts, giving you extra cash to fuel your concert adventures.

Practical Tips on How to Save for Concerts (or other things):

1. Start Small and Stay Consistent: Begin with small, regular deposits into your Maya Savings account. Even minor amounts can add up over time.

2. Set Clear Goals: Use the Personal Goals feature to break down your concert expenses into manageable targets. This makes the saving process feel less overwhelming.

3. Maximize Earnings with Time Deposits: If you have a lump sum that you won’t need immediately, consider using Time Deposit Plus for higher interest earnings.

4. Monitor Your Progress: Keep track of your savings and celebrate milestones. This will keep you motivated and on track.

So surreal seeing my BTS bias on stage and this close! Still can't believe it.

Using Maya’s savings products has transformed my approach to saving for concerts—or for anything, really! I’ve never been this excited to save and check my bank account daily, haha. I think it’s because I no longer have to wait for years to see progress. Now, I see my money earn daily (even if it’s just a small amount), and that’s highly encouraging. I now realize that it’s not just about stashing money away—it’s about using smart, effective, and efficient tools that make your savings work for you!
